I want to get my teeth whitened, whats the most effective and long-lasting procedure for in-office dentistry?

I’ve done some research but am having trouble distinguishing the difference between "Zoom" and "Laser". I just want the whitest teeth possible in as short a time possible. Also, I live in San Diego right by the border of Mexico and was thinking about going out there to save some money?

Though there is lot of expectations from a professional teeth whitening procedure, there is no one single whitening system which has proved to be effective for all cases.

A dentist and your needs together is the best judge for it.

So it is always preferable that you choose a best dentist and allow him to decide on which tooth whitening system would work best on you rather than yourself choosing a whitening system.

The results too vary depending on the present state of your teeth.

Those with Darker shades tend to get better results. Also the relapse of the teeth whitening varies from person to person.

While choosing dentists you should keep the following things in mind:

- The experience of the dentist in this field
- Number of teeth whitening treatments performed
- Number of teeth whitening methods available
- Testimonials and results of previous patients

once you zero in on a good dentist, allow him to takeover and decide as to what is best for you.

Can you rehape and whiten all of your teeth with dental bonding?

Instead of getting veneers, can you just get all of your teeth bonded and rehshaped and whitened? would it look good?

With bonding it is possible to reshape and brighten the color of your teeth. However, bonding does not last a lifetime and it is difficult to tell how long it will last, it depends on how your teeth come together and what your habits are. (Veneers don’t last forever either) with veneers or bonding you are making a long term commitment.

You should have your dentist take a look and see what they recommend, if you already have bonding on some of your teeth, they won’t whiten w/ bleaching, so you would want to have those replaced anyways.

Other then teeth whitening, what other dental work is considered cosmetic, and cannot be deducted?

Last year, I had over $6,000 in dental work done, and my husband had around $4,000. We had no insurance and all of it was out of pocket. I know I cannot claim the whitening, but is there anything else that I should not claim? Normal services, extractions, fillings, xrays, stitches, partials, and a bridge were completed. The fillings are the more expense white ones, does that make any difference?

The difference is between health versus vanity. Tooth decay can lead to heart problems. So for each expense, ask yourself was this cost for my heart or is it for the way other people see me.

what is the difference between cavit and cavit G?

both are interim restorative materials used in dentistry

WELL BOTH ARE TEMPORARY RESTORATIVE MATERIAL USED IN ROOT CANAL TREATMENT….IF ITS PINK IN COLOUR THEN IT IS CAVIT AND IF IT IS GRAYISH THEN IT IS CAVIT G….

Are veneers the only cosmetic procedure for enamel loss?

I don’t think so. My best friend lost all her enamel on every one of her teeth and she isn’t getting veneers. Her dentist is doing something fake enamel on hers but it takes a long time because each tooth is something like $600. Her gave her a prescription toothpaste to use to help protect her other teeth until she have all of them done. She is also using Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste and ACT Restoring Mouthwash which you can buy anywhere. Both help protect tooth enamel. Her doctor told her that her enamel loss was probably due to drinking too much soda and sweet tea. She is a sweet tea addict. When I was little I lost some enamel on my teeth because I drank a lot of fruit juice and the citric acid and sugar wore off the enamel.

Dentistry abroard….anyone recomend where to go for the best and most reasonably priced dentistry?

abroard. I have always looked after my teeth by regularly going to the dentist. Unfortunately most of my problems have been genetic, and I started getting real problems when I was forty, up until then I had a great set of teeth which people commented on.
I have now come to an age and a stage where my gums have receeded and my top bridge is looking horrible
I am now on a pension so money is really tight and I have been quoted around £8,000.00 to have a full set of upper teeth connected by implants to replace my bridges.
There is no way on earth I can afford this, and the thought of a denture that comes out is just horrific to me.
Anyone know where I can go and have this work done, at a reasonable price, I’m getting really paranoid about my teeth and it’s stopping me smiling as I used to through embarrassment. HELP.
I need a full top denture affixed by four implants not individual implants.

I would shop around first in the UK. There are a lot of Polish dentists in the UK who are now offering much cheaper implants than ever before. This has only just started happening over the past year or so. I’ve seen pricing at 500 UK pounds per implant.

Dental prices are actually coming down for once after years of rip-off – probably because of the Polish dentists in the UK. Although you can have a cheaper operation abroad, once you factor in the cost of hotels, travel, and in your case multiple visits to another country, you won’t be much further ahead for all the risk. Implants can go wrong. Sometimes they just don’t take properly. You also will need two or three visits so the implants can set and heal before they insert the crowns.

I found a web site that actually compares the cost of a UK implant with going to Budapest in Hungary.

If you do choose to get implants abroad, make sure they insert implants from a reputable manufacturer such as Noble biocare or Astratek. Many eastern european countries use non – standard screws and appliances. Anything goes wrong and you are – pardon the pun – screwed. Of course, once you specify a standard appliance the price goes up, because the dentist needs to buy the materials from a european or US manfacturer.

Failing that, go back to your original dentist and be totally upfront and ask if you can be available a short notice for cancellations etc. and work with them on the price.
